Short-Term Art Workshop Assistant: Application for Young People

Are you 18-25 years and looking to gain some arts education experience?

Hot Desque is an artistic-curatorial partnership between artists Lizzy Drury and Neena Percy. They are looking for someone enthusiastic about working in the arts and with young people, to assist them for a series of workshops in April for members of Step Out Mentoring. 

You do not need to have extensive experience, as this is an opportunity to jump in and learn. 

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • Aged 18-25 years

  • Interested in arts and arts education

  • Ideally based in South London, as the workshops will be held at Peckham Levels

  • Patient and sensitive to the needs of young people

  • Happy to take initiative and get creative

  • Available on all the afternoons of the days given below

  • We particularly welcome candidates from underrepresented backgrounds

Job Details:

Join us for a short period to help deliver 4 workshops, paid hourly at London Living Wage (£13.15). 

This will be 22 hours paid hourly at London Living Wage, £13.15 (£289.30), across each of the following days at Peckham Levels, London, SE15 4ST:

  • Technical skills in filming and editing equipment

  • Confidence through a public celebratory mini exhibition for friends and family 


Brief workshop outline: 

Join two artists for fun, hands-on art making workshops to build a future world through collage, drawing and clay sculpture. 

Bring it to life through a collaborative video, which you will film and make the soundtrack for!

The video and collaborative sculpture will result in a celebratory exhibition at the end of the workshops, which you can bring your friends and family to.
